Plattco invented the isolation series valve in the 1980s. Its main purpose is to be used as a shut off isolation valve for the main fuel feed lines of coal boilers. The valve has a unique ramping action in the closed position to provide a near air tight seal when closed. On the fuel feed line this keeps the positive pressure from the boiler below form escaping, allowing the coal feed equipment upstream of the valve to be repaired safely.
