Safety & Performance Upgrades

We understand our customers demand performance, safety and reliability from our line of quality products. With Plattco double flap airlock valves being designed to operate for decades, we know that during their useful life environmental, regulatory, and plant requirements may change. So, we strive to offer a variety of improvements, many of which are retro-fitable to existing installations.

At Plattco, we have an entire cross-functional Technology Group dedicated to continually evaluating and improving our current products while developing and engineering new products as well. We utilize field data, customer surveys, QA inspections, consultants, suppliers, and real-time feedback from customers to enhance not only the performance of the valves but the safety of them as well.

Machine guarding:

  • Available on all new purchases, can be retro-fit to existing installs
  • Uses both solid 22 Gauge Steel and Expanded Metal
  • Use of U-Bolt Bracket Design, which mounts to flange
  • Powder coated safety yellow
  • Engineered and designed specifically for your valve
  • Benefits:
  • Fully complies with OSHA/MSHA guarding regulations
  • Quick and easy install (re-install) - guaranteed less than 10 minutes
  • Expanded Metal allows for visual inspection, while solid steel extends the life of air cylinders

Hands on & Classroom Training:

  • Factory -Certified, expert training, allowing you to free up your resources to focus on other areas of the plant.
  • Can accommodate any class size, any time of the year
  • Spend time working on areas of weakness to train new staff and refresh existing staff
  • Fully customizable
  • Supplement your existing Corporate Training Portfolio

Rear Access Door:

  • Available on new purchases
  • No up charge for the rear access door models (standard accessory)
  • Available on most models
  • Benefits:
  • Safer entry to valve for preventative maintenance/cleaning/inspections
  • Eliminates the need for full insertion of limb into valve

Safety Handles:

  • Available on new purchases and retrofit
  • Standard handles for all valves
  • Benefits:
  • Safer removal of cover
  • Cost-Effective
  • Can be installed by Plattco technicians during Field Service Work
  • Reduction in pinch points

Easy-Access Camlock Cover & Hinged Camlock Covers:

  • Available on new purchases
  • Easier, safer access
  • Eliminates the time-consuming issue of drilling out broken and corroded cover bolts
  • Proprietary design, engineered for your valve
  • Can be retro-fitted on existing valves
  • Benefits:
  • Safer entry to valve for maintenance and preventative maintenance
  • Reduces/eliminates (hinged) risk of swinging/dropped covers
  • Ramp allows for minimal closure force
  • Hinged cover allows one person to open and close, safely, even at heights
  • Adds efficiency to the maintenance/preventative maintenance schedule
  • Bolt on gaskets (hinged) last longer
  • Proven to significantly increase the amount and extent of internal inspections by maintenance staff.

Rotary Actuator:

  • Available on all new purchases and retro-fit
  • Requires less compressed air
  • Less moving parts
  • Benefits:
  • Eliminates need for guarding

Plattco EZ Seats

  • Smaller, easier to handle components
  • Multiple sealing options (elastomer, rubber, metal, sacrificial coatings)
  • Benefits:
  • Quicker and safer to change than our Standard Seats (due to less weight)
  • Decreases risk of damage to the housing during installation compared to standard seats
  • Cost effective option for customers who do not participate in regrind program due to shipping costs or transit times
  • Requires less room for inventory storage
  • Less cost for shipping inventory components
  • No rotary action, eliminating the need to build a clearance (leakage) into the valve
  • Housing is not part of the seal so it can last for decades in the worst operational environments
  • Airlock is maintained even if the material is abrasive, corrosive, and/or is pressurized or subject to high temperatures
  • Full throat opening eliminates bridging, jamming, & material build up, allowing the passage of large, chunky, fibrous materials and/or foreign objects that may enter the system
  • Double flaps ensure the seal is never broken through the sequence of filling & emptying the valve
  • All cast construction, using proprietary alloys for consistency, durability and wear resistance
  • Propriety Seat and Flapper design, precision machined to flat to eliminate air leakage and allow for infinite renewability, in-line
  • Propriety Seat & Flapper design (the seal) allowing for the components to be re-surfaced to a like new condition and can be replaced without moving the valve or taking it out of service
  • Our Field Service & Repair, supplementing or eliminating the routine maintenance burden from our customers.
  • The inside of the valve (including seat & flapper) is reached through access covers in the body of the valve – making it safer, easier and more convenient to perform inspections and maintenance
  • In pressurized applications our patented Mechanical Shaft Seal eliminates the potential for shaft seal leakage
  • Outboard mounted shaft bearings allow for air circulation
  • Numerous maintenance friendly features: stainless steel shafts, bushings on the arms, external seat screws, and pipe plugs for removal of flapper pins
  • We engineer, design, & manufacture our valves on our original campus in Plattsburgh, NY.
  • We customize solutions to the specifics of the application based on proven technology. You get the advantages of a customized solution combined with the benefits of our expertise in similar applications.
  • We invented the Double Flap Valve & have over 60 years experience building valves and 120 years of metallurgical experience. We have thousands of successful applications, in dozens of industries throughout the world.
  • We make our living solving material handling problems that no other valve can handle. Plattco concentrates on designing, engineering, & delivering the best valve in the world.
  • Over the years we have developed & proven a valve with many choices for optimal performance:
  • Four valve models and several slide gates – all available with fully customizable options
  • Standard & custom sizes available (also available in metric)
